Welcome to the 2013 Epic Handcycling Road Race
and Criterium presented by Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of GA!

Please join The Scott Rigsby Foundation as we honor you and our Wounded Warriors at the Alliance Ride.  Athletes expected to participate in the Handcycle Series Road Race include current and former US Paralympic Team members, US Handcycling Federation qualifiers, first-time racers, and local heroes, including disabled veterans and recently injured members of the armed forces.

The 25 mile Epic (see map) is a NEW rolling-closure course road race with handcyclists starting at 7:30am, 20 minutes ahead of the upright cyclists.  The course has been moved to take advantage of less traveled  terrain and is moderate and rolling through police managed streets of Alpharetta, Milton and Forsyth county with a single steep climb at Mount Jackson toward the finish line.  Project Walk has invited all handcyclists to come to a post-race lunch and tour of their new facilities after the event!

We have added a second Criterium race for Sunday (click here to see Criterium Race course map), May 5th which will encompass a 1.3 mile closed course loop in Alpharetta at Alderman and Windward Concourse Drive.  Start time is tentatively set at 9am and will conclude at 9:45am.

The Alliance Ride/Epic Handcycling Road Race is a part of the 2013 USHF national calendar series. Points will be awarded according to the USHF standards. Go to www.ushf.org for more information on the series. Registration is $25 and you must be a USHF member to race. If you are not already, you can go to www.ushf.org to join or join the day of the race for $20. You must also have a USAC license and can purchase a single day license for $10 on race day.

Please email Ryan Barnett at ryanb@scottrigsbyfoundation.org if you have a roommate preference or any questions. If you are an honorably discharged veteran, active military, or first responder, please email Ryan to verify if you qualify for a travel grant.

Race Categories: We are following the USHF classifications: HC1-HC4 for men. If you are unsure of your classification go to www.ushf.org for further information. Women will all be grouped in one class. Age group categories may be added dependent on registration.
